Is outside water contaminated?
There are a few reasons why the adjuster from your insurance will determine that your home needs to have carpets and walls torn out, one of them is because of contamination.
Outside Water is Contaminated
In most cases any outside water that comes into your home is considered contaminated. The insurance and SERVPRO of Vigo County will most likely agree that the damage will need to be torn out from the home. Porous materials cannot be disinfected of the bacteria that is in-between the carpet fibers, carpet padding, or soaked up in the drywall. This home, although not looking too bad, had to have its carpets removed because of the outside water.
